Wordpress 2.1 Careful with plugins
Since I know many of you have switched to Wordpress, this maybe helpful to some.
Friday Morning…
As some of you may have noticed, for the moment, my link list is gone. Due to an upgrade Thursday night to Wordpress 2.1 . I’m off to work.
Friday Night 6.30pm
I haven’t had time to trouble shoot, but I did see some pretty extensive fixes for my problem on the Wordpress codex site.
I will fiddle tonight and see if I can get the categories widget back to the way I had configured. As for the Links ? Pretty well everything is gone so I’ll start from scratch or scrap it. for the time being everything else appears to work.
If you have a parallel test blog, you may want o put this upgrade through there first.
Friday Night 8.15pm
Dinner was good, Pork tender loin
Categories are fixed. I figured those out. As for the links, They follow the same logic as the categories, according to Andrew Cairns. So I’ll go play with that now.
Friday Night 9.45pm
So it worked! Links are now back in order.
So the upgrade has somehow merged the categories and links id. So they’ve lost their original ID #.
It would have been nice to have found this documented somewhere. Oh I’m sure it is, I just wasn’t looking in the right place…Yada yada yada…

Jeffrey did my WordPress upgrade this week for me (from 2.07 to 2.1). I’m not entirely thrilled with the new interface tho, but I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it. I’ve been in bed with the flu for most of the week, but one thing I did notice is in the Write post window there seems to be an issue with the toggle between wysiwyg and code view. I looked in the support forums and this seems to be an issue with a lot of other people. ugh… bugs!
Back to bed for me!
xoxo,
nina
Sorry to hear your not feeling well and hope your back on your feet shortly.
I haven’t noticed anything yet with the toggle, but I am using WYSI-Wordpress. I read the rants too. My only problems were with those two Alex King plug ins. I use others from Alex King and they were fine.
Actually they weren’t a problem. Just an undocumented work around.
Tell Jeffery I think he’s done a terrific job!
Although I’m not a Wordpress user, have to say that it looks great
Ack!
I was so worried something like that would happen when I upgraded too. I’m glad to see that things seem somewhat nearly back to normal.
^_^
I hope you’ll stop by tomorrow (Friday) - miss you!
