I usually credit the artwork that I use in the top banners.  Since I didn’t get a chance to do so for the valentine’s banners, I’ll feature all three artists today.

 Michal Dutkiewicz

He was born in Adelaide, Australia in 1955,  son of a painter.   Dutkiewicz worked as an illustrator and  he drew for several series, including ‘Superman’ and ‘Batman’. He also published his work in Australian magazines like Reverie Comic Magazine and Eureka, for which he did ‘Verity Aloeha’. In 1991, Dutkiewicz won the Stanley Award for the Best Adventure Strip Artist.

As for my Valentine banners, I used the the following 2 images from him:

 There is a book I see on the net entitled, GIRL CRAZY: The Art of Michal Dutkiewicz TPB.  Please find a few more web published work  from  Michal Dutkiewicz in the gallery.

 My search for Valentine’s theme banners was very narrow, but I liked my results.  I made a second banner which was made up from two different artist.

Nirasawa Yasushi (above to the left)

Japanese born and working out of Tokyo, Nirasawa Yasushi, is one of the most prominent Manga artist.  He has been behind the work of productions such as Hellboy and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and his animation character designs have appeared in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Devilman: Amon.

Shinichi  Noda (above to the right)

Another Japanese illustrator, this time influenced by Sorayama, Royo and Cleavenger.  I really liked his work, I will most likely feature permanent banners from Shinichi Noda.

Maybe do something different this year for Valentine’s Day!   The same old flowers or Chocolates yadi yadi yadi…Something a little intimate perhaps?  I don’t mean materialistic, but you can do that as well.  Something out of the ordinary.

How about a little dirty talk?  Spice up your conversation with some hot  phrases to entice your lover into the mood.

Now, you may think I’m nuts, “we never use that type of play or language”.  The truth is most people get excited with sensual conversation, but many are too shy or lack the skill of where to begin. 

“He/she finds it offensive”.  Well, in very few cases, this may be, but I think it’s worth the risk.

Many couples tend to fall into a routine, when it comes to sex.  This, is one sweet way to break that routine.

Express what you’re actually doing in a delicate way.
"Right now I’m doing this, and it makes me so horny I’m going to …”   Talk it out!

If you don’t usually use toys with your partner, Valentine ’s Day might be a good time to introduce one.  The discovery is usually an exciting moment.  Discuss the new toy; share the possibilities to make sure you know where you’re going with it.

Discussing Fantasies

 B in this post is for backup, which can be a bitch or a bugger if you don’t do it regularly and you have an unfortunate event.  Even if you haven’t suffered an unfortunate event, and you want to change webhost or blogging platform.  You’ll need a backup to get you through.

I’ve discussed this before, but I think it’s a good idea to bring it up again.  Which ever your blogging platform, make sure you are familiar with the suggested backup routine.  Engage it, try it.  Not just the backup routine, the restore portion also.  

How?  Create a test site, perhaps parallel to yours.  Do some formatting, drop in some jibberish posts or data.  Backup, wipe it out, and see what’s involved in restoring it.  You’ll be happy if disaster strikes.  It’ll never happen to me  really doesn’t apply here.

Wordpress.com  You should probably read this anyway!  See the Export feature.

Wordpress on your own Server.  Read this:  Yes there are Plugins available, but one of these easiest methods, if you have upgraded to 2.1 is to go the Manage tab of the Dashboard, choose Export.  This format is calledl WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR.  It will contain your posts, comments, custom fields, and categories.

You need a little more here.  Your plugins, your themes, your pictures…With your FTP program,  download the directory structure to your computer.  Save it in a directory.  You may not be able to re-upload everything as is, but at least you’ll know what steps to take to put it back.  Your theme edits, and your css file should just right in after you’ve reinstalled your theme.

Restore  Wordpress on a new server or the same.  2 steps:  Install a fresh copy of Wordpress on the server, use the Manage/Import feature.  It will restore the file you had exported as your back up.  Yes, you still have to re-do the formatting, but you’ve saved your data.  Second step, now install your theme, restore the mods to your theme and re-do the plugins.

In the mean time I hope Nina from Lazy Geisha, gets back up on her feet and I hope this article, will inpire all of you to consider Plan B.
