Cell Phones

3 year contract is up…. So you can get a new cell for next to nothing or get something a little fancier for a small fee.  Unless of course your looking to jump beyond and into the Blackberry and the extra service etc.

Our son found a Nokia 5300 - labeled the Music phone.  We figured, what’s good for him is good for the rest of us, so I got three of them.  The standard bells and whistles, Camera, video, MP3 player, this one plays without headphones and also does radio. There is a headphone jack and also a wire to transfer and synch to the PC .  Of course through our provider, we do Text messaging and with this interface I also see Msn.

 I kind of object to dishing out more to the provider for every theme, song and ringtones.  So I usually let everyone get one thing with their new phone and then I tell them I can pretty well stick on anything they want onto the phone.  There are a few ways to acquire these things or even produce them yourself if your pretty handy.

Off I went to get some themes for DW to choose from.  You know, screen savers, back drops and ring tone.  So I got the ringtone going first with Hello Motto, the old Motorolla classic.  and the I got to the themes.  Well I think between the Ringtones and the themes, we’re probably looking at a 10 billion dollars industry.  No wonder my provider is keen on linking me to his site to acquire these toys.

What did get my attention though is that most of this Media is aimed at young men.  Not everything but at least 50%.  Yet it’s funny, I don’t see my self at 15-18- or even 20 impressing a young lady by showing her my half naked babe on my cell phone.  Sure, guys like to look at it, but I don’t see the young ladies getting all hot over this.  Specially, that there’s hardly anything available for them out there.
